Moving.

Friends,
I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to let you know that I've enjoyed my time spent with you but the time has come for me to move on. It was a good ride while it lasted and I am grateful for your support - you all are truly awesome. Okay, so I'm really not going anywhere, I'm just moving the blog to a new home. See you around!

In Internet Best,
~K

p.s. You're still awesome!!!

T.G.I.F!

Source: beeka-beeka.com.

Happy Friday friends! It has been an extremely long and eventful week for me...and not in a good way. Be so, I have nothing for you today, not even my normal Six Words Friday (SWF). I know every party has a pooper - I’ll be the pooper today (raising hand).

But hey, although I am not joining in the SWF fun, I urge you to stop by Melissa's house and check out her weekly feature and what all the other cool kids are sharing. Or, you can check out some of my older SWF posts here. Either way I’m sure you’ll be delighted.

Be safe and have a great weekend friends!

p.s. The picture above in no way relates to my week. I just finished looking through photos of our past trip to the zoo.

Goodbye Hipster

My Love,

Within the last month it has come to my attention that I have to end my loveship with you.

Will it be hard to do? Yes.
Is it really necessary you ask? It’s debatable.

I really hearted you.
You were so sleek and so light.
...the one to keep me cool and dry.
Your structure, seamless...a no-show smoothness.
And breathable indeed.
Just like you said.

I had options with you - classic options - white, taupe, black, and baby blue.
Seriously, who could ask for any other?

And to think, i just checked the other day and there were 4 stars by your name.
I saw that someone name Xantha, obviously felt the same way about you.
“Comfortable and had no ride up”…is what Xantha stated.

That’s how I felt too…well, in the beginning.
However my love, these days you’re not feeling so sleek or light.
I mean it’s like you're suffocating me...
I feel your presence EVERYWHERE I go.
And you know that no-show smoothness? Well, it’s showing.

So I guess ending my loveship for you is necessary and is not debatable.
I’ve held you close to me for so long because I really just don’t have time to search for another of your stature.
Please don’t be upset. Please know that I enjoyed our time together.
I am sure some young gal will come along, be wowed by you and experience all you have to offer her. But for us, we have reached the end of our journey.

And my love, if you should decide to change your structure, let me know…I’d be willing to try you out again. Stay classy.

~K

Drawing A Line.

Son,
Every day I draw a line from my soul to yours...
Sometimes straight and at other times curvilinear.
A colorful and but inspiring line.
A line with no boundaries, one to cherish forever...
One to pass along for generations to come.

A Jewish guy. A Christian floater and a basement apartment

Background:
The Jewish Guy – my boyfriend
The Christian Floater - me (raised in a Holiness and Baptist Church and also attended Catholic School)

The story:
(preface:I really don't like to get into religion and beliefs too much - I just believe people believe what they believe and it's your right to believe in whatever you believe in - so this will be brief. sort of)

It is my personal belief that religion plays or can play a factor in most relationships and a couples future. As my boyfriend and I are from different backgrounds, I believe it’s important that we find some sort of common ground – religion wise. I believe it will help our growth as a couple/family (sorry if I loose you here).

With that being said my boyfriend and I had discussed religion in our early stage of dating but not to a full extent until recently. So in a recent conversation, I again made it known that I would like to learn more about his religion and attend a service together whether it be a blue, red, or green church (I think you get my point).  He agreed and off I went church shopping searching - It almost felt like I was shopping for a new home (ironic in some ways). In my search I came across two churches that looked interesting, both Unitarian (which he suggested). He checked them both out online. And so we headed to one of the churches last Sunday.

The service was nice and the people were friendly – we both enjoyed ourselves. We conversed with some of the members of the church afterwards. On the way out of the church we stopped to speak to the pastor as he was standing by the door greeting the congregation.

The pastor introduced himself, we each introduced ourselves.
The pastor then proceeds to ask where or what area we are from – I tell him where I am from.
He then tells me of his location/ neighborhood - of which I am very familiar with.
He then turns to me and says: I live in the XYZ neighborhood, in a tiny apartment in the basement of a large house that was split up into units.”

[crickets, crickets]

I then attempted to look towards my boyfriend to see if he overheard this.

[crickets, crickets]

Thankfully a church member scooped in and spoke saved me from the awkwardness…
I quickly said, “Okay, have a good afternoon and slipped past the pastor out of the church”

[oh the thoughts that were going through my head at this moment - it was like the music stopped]

Nevertheless, I’ll probably attend services at this church next Sunday or go to the second church I found and then back to the pastor’s basement apartment this church…awkwardly.

What experiences if any awkward or not have you had when visiting houses of worship, a church, synagogue, etc.?

Life happens late at night.

I usually enjoy a cigarette or three at night, mainly around midnight…sometimes 3 or 4AM…depends.

I don’t smoke indoors; I really don’t think it’s a good thing to do.

I like to take a small walk while smoking and find it enjoyable to smoke right near my neighbor’s window.

You can bet I’m going to carry my cell phone with me so I can talk, you know, that’s what we young folk tend to do – we’re connected at the ear and hip.

What can I say? My friends and I like to talk. Okay, usually it’s me doing most of talking. I’ve got a lot of things going!!! For example:

Last month I was extremely upset over this dude I had been dating for about a week. So I took a walk, had few smokes and called a friend. I told my friend that I was upset over this guy I liked a lot and that he was acting funny towards me. I told her that I gave it up to him (we had sex). I usually wait a few dates before having sex with the guy I’m seeing.  I told him this beforehand as well. Everything was fine and then he started acting funny. I thought he and his girlfriend may have gotten back together – he says they didn't. I just wanted the real story.

I said I was going to ignore him…but I just couldn’t.  I called him up the other night to see if he wanted to go out but he told me had to work. I was just so frustrated. I called him back after he got off of work and asked him what was he doing? Asked if he want to get it in before going to bed? He said "i dunno," I guess – so I went over his house and we had sex, then I left.

Another time, I had some friends drive me home after hanging out, I was so toasted. We hung outside, smoked a few cigarettes, talked and laughed.  My one friend even left his car window down and car radio on so we could hear some tunes…good times.

Then there was the time, I had to console my friend who got put out of her house and oh wait…her boyfriend dumped her. We sat outside smoked cigarettes and conversed to the wee hours in the morning.

What can I say – life happens late at night…ya know?

{The above are my observations of late night conversations which disturb my sleep by my obnoxious neighbor. One can assume this gal is, 1.) Not very mature and has no concern for others, 2.) This gal really enjoys her cigarettes and late night conversation, 3.) This girl has yet to feel or experience the TOTAL wrath of my madness. }

Kind.

+ Getting about 20 hours of sleep this week due to a little monster's restlessness

+ Being schooled on the “doing the bubble lips,” courtesy of my younger cousins. It’s when kids  people take photos of themselves poking out their lips and throwing up the peace sign of some variety. Sort of like this:

"Hey I'm hot" via
"Dueces, fool" via
My little cousin - there were so many
to choose from (I'll hear about this later)

+ Hearing a new spin on the old saying, "move your feet, loose your seat":
"tweet your meat, loose your seat"

+ Losing an awesome friend to cancer. R.I.P, Brandi.

In a nutshell that was my KIND of week.!

What kind of week did you experience?

You are guilty.

Yes you are.
I’m guilty too.
As a matter of fact, the entire world is guilty!
It was done to us as we were growing up and it’s only by habit that we continue and pass this type of behavior on.

What is it?
An old wives tale….also referred to as an “old wise tale

As a mom to a toddler old I haven’t had the opportunity to use any of these "tales" on my son...but sooner rather than later I’m sure I will. I could now tell my son something like, "If you pick your nose and eat the boogers, your tummy will get clogged with boogies and you won't be able to breath (and you'll die)"! However, he'd just look at me and repeat what I'd said and continue to do it!

Cruel? Possibly but boogers are nasty - especially his. But, shhhh...don't tell him I told you his visible secret. Growing up a few of my favorite old wives tales were:
  1. If you step on a crack you'll break your mother's back.
  2. Breaking a mirror will earn a person seven years of bad luck.
  3. Don't swallow gum or it will stay in your stomach for seven years.
  4. Don't make silly faces or your face will stay that way forever.
  5. It's bad luck to open an umbrella indoors.
  6. A man must be the first person to enter your house on January 1 of a new year.
  7. If you or someone sweeps your/their foot while sweeping you get bad luck.
  8. You should put butter on a burn.
  9. If the palm of your right hand is itchy, money will be coming your way. But, if you scratch the right hand while it is itchy, it’ll keep the money from coming.

And my personal favorite from my mom, which has me scurrying at the end of the year (till this day):
  • If your house is not in order (clean, including all laundry) by December 31st, your house will be dirty all year long.

What “old wives tales” are you guilty of telling your child/children to discourage unwanted behavior or scare them? What old wives tales do you hold from your childhood?

What dreams may come.

I’m a dreamer.
I dream about 6 nights a week.
Some dreams I remember clearly and some I remember small bits of .
I come from a family of dreamers (no I’m not crazy).
My grandmother did it and she interpreted dreams well.
A few of my aunts’ do it, my mother does it and…well, I do it too.
Strangely none of my other cousins do it – okay so call me crazy (if you must, I can take it).

A few years back I dreamed of the birth of my cousin – an early delivery
I was 4,000+ miles away.

I have vivid dreams of those who have passed…as if they are physically here.

I have dreams of people...that very shortly after leave us.

I have dreams of situations that always often present themselves or come to light.

I often creep myself out.

Most recently I had a dream about fish.
A dream about fish usually means someone’s pregnant (in “my” history book).
The next day I immediately began phoning and texting folk to see who it could have been…
Still searching for that answer…although not too worried…it is not me!
Others say:
*Seeing a live fish in a dream is very much good luck unless the fish was carp, in which case it is a warning against subjecting yourself by your actions to criticism. *A fish swimming in clear water is an omen that you will acquire personal wealth and power. However, to see a dead fish as in a market is an omen of disappointment. (Needless to say, I haven’t had any dreams such as these).

The other night I dreamed about a rat.
A very large disgusting fat rat. I'd never seen anything like it.
Okay, maybe I have downtown somewhere...but never in my dreams!
Just hanging out strolling pass me - ughhh.
Am I a little weary? Yep, a little.
Deception, jealousy, someone working against me...those can’t be good things.
I’m now officially sleeping with one eye open – okay not really but I have on my super specks!
I am def. creeped out.

Am I a little too into this dream thing?
Maybe
Maybe not...especially if history repeats itself.

Does anyone else dream, interpret dreams, etc.? How do you feel about people that do?

they made sacrifices to keep us safe, to keep us secure, to give us freedom, give us liberty
thus we remember and are thankful.

rainbow.

...there something about a rainbow that restores my faith...in a fluffy sort of way...

5.18.2011

when you brush your teeth with toddler toothpaste...

put your underwear on backwards;
mistake your little cousins tights for your stockings (no I'm not that small - it was the location of them!);
pour your coffee into the kiddie cup and proceed to drink it; or
when you look and your kid is sitting in the drivers seat, and you're locked in the back seat (damn kiddie locks)...

well friends,
those are definite signs you're I'm running late!
yep, sometimes it be's like that.
Happy Monday Wednesday!

I think

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

New Year’s

... Resolution Joy

Happy New Years to all. It's monday...and believe it or not I don't have a case of "the mondays!" Today it's back to a regular work schedule. I got to slightly slack off for the two weeks due to the holidays and all the festivities planned during that time.

'E' had an awesome holiday! He's really coming into his own - playing well with others, putting together tons of sentences - calling folks on the phone conversing, and my favorite - he now tells me when his food it "goood"...it's funny how i didn't completely realize he was changing until spending more time with him during the holiday (unlike the time we spend during the normal work week). Oh and he poo poo'd in the potty. what a blessing. i just have to keep up the work with that.

E's treasured present received: matchbox cars and the automobile garage w/ramp given to him by his grand pop

as for myself, i didn't relax much during the day - relaxed when everyone was sleep, staying up to the wee hours watching tv and snacking - i payed for it in the mornings.  somewhere along the holiday i went on a spiritual journey - i did found understanding in a lot of things as far as myself, relationships, etc. not sure how this journey came about but i know it happened and i and i'm glad i did.

mom's treasured present received: the scarf pictured above by Mr. B.

i hope that everyone had a good holiday and is bright eyed and bushy tailed for this new year and what it has in store. i didn't make any new year’s resolutions. i usually break them or as i'd like to say forget about them. However, i am inspired by this new year and am i am keeping my fingers crossed for good this to come as i navigate the year.

our most treasured present received: the love and support of our families and being able to spend time with those close to us (that includes you too Mr. B).

did you make any new year’s resolutions? if so have you broken any of them yet? more so how are you approaching this new year?
