awake.

Naps are a drag.
Well according to my son they are.
No, he really didn't say that!
But that's what I'm starting to get from his behavior.
(I'll spare you the number of weeks).

This dude, is the worse.
Let's start with last weekend...which is where the frustration normally begins - on the weekends!
Saturday, early rise, full day and no afternoon nap.
Sunday, a repeat of Saturday.

I'm sure we have it out every weekend.
(if you and I have ever conversed on the phone during nap drama time, you've heard the  conversation)
I'm always like little dude, you've gotta take a nap!
You take naps at school with friends, you take naps at home, it's that simple!
(I just get the side eye. I'm not sure where he learned that).

Does the kid not understand his little body needs lots of rest?
Or that he will never ever, ever, ever get back lost sleep?
And that with plenty of rest his mental state will be awesome and that he won't be a horrible monster in the afternoon/evening?
I mean that's what research says anyway...in so many words.
Or what about mommy - she needs a nap too, a mental break...research says that too
Okay, maybe I said that...but his nap time is my busy time!

...and now we're into the week

Monday, early rise, full day and no afternoon nap (at school).
And today, well it's Tuesday...and "I bet your bottom dollar" that the little dude didn't take a nap.
But wait it's not the weekdays I'm too worried about, school can deal with that.
Then again...
thought about it - I should worry!
No nap at school makes for a monster in the evening.

I guess I'm screwed either way.
To think there was a time when I had this nap thing all figured out.

Any suggestions? Quick the weekend is fast approaching?

the floor

(Back drop: Me sitting on the couch enjoying the boob tube as I attempt to wind down for the evening)

ACTION!

E: “wee,wee…arrrrrrrgh, ka boom!”
(as he proceeds to the ottoman – slamming hisself across it and bouncing off of the couch - apparently someone’s having a Friday Night Smack Down moment)

...10 minutes LATER...

I hear the giggles and I continue to ignore him (clearly someones seeking attention)

And then, out the corner of my eye I notice this last time is a bit different

This time...I see two little legs up in the air and a big head moving towards the floor.

MAN DOWN (I began to think)

E: "Mom you okay?" (As he slowly resurfaces)

Me: "No, are you okay...I've been sitting on the couch the entire time"

E: "I'm okay"

Me:  "Well since you're okay and not hurt...please tell me what exactly did you hit when you landed on the floor?"

E: "the floor"

(I just chuckled inside. kids, you gotta love them for their honesty)

when you brush your teeth with toddler toothpaste...

put your underwear on backwards;
mistake your little cousins tights for your stockings (no I'm not that small - it was the location of them!);
pour your coffee into the kiddie cup and proceed to drink it; or
when you look and your kid is sitting in the drivers seat, and you're locked in the back seat (damn kiddie locks)...

well friends,
those are definite signs you're I'm running late!
yep, sometimes it be's like that.
Happy Monday Wednesday!

Overhaul...

Happy Friday Friends!

beeka*beeka is going through some changes...as you may or may have not noticed from the site (and the bags under my eyes -smile).I'd say at this exact moment I'd like to be here (pictured below) with a martini and a good magazine!

Wishes of a wonderful weekend!

If it's HOT in your hood, try to stay cool.
If it's COLD in your hood, try to stay warm.
If it's FAIR in your hood...well, you're a lucky one.

kiddie kooties, refreshed!

It's a new week! Unfortunately, it has taken me over a week to get well after acquiring "kiddie cooties" something horrible! But as the saying goes, better late than never! Taking serious time Monday too sleep, medicate myself and eat soup (+ loose the kid) really help! I honestly didn't know how bad off I was until Saturday when my eyes were bleeding (that's hurting really bad) all day  And then Saturday night at dinner with family, my one cousin told the waiter I was "delusional" - the nerve off her! Funny though - the waiter approached me as I was walking to the restroom and told me I didn't put enough money in for my check, then I thought - my cousin was right (just this time), I am out of it!

Well I feel better today and while frolicking around in my room sick and attempting to sanitize the place, I came across some items that are my "favorites". Favorites as in accesories, shoes, knick-knacks, etc. I thought I'd take a few pictures (in the next few days of course) to share with you.So stay tuned for those - all seven million oh my readers! Ha that was a funny!

Well I am off to catch up from Monday and Tuesday and hopefully at about 2PM I'll be straight into Wednesday! Wait make that 3PM. Have a great humpday!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I can almost breath again (the nose is almost unclogged)! I know that was oh so sexy!

4.06.2010

sniff sniff, chills

Well, it's a sick Tuesday thanks to the little one pictured above. Chills, massive headache, body ache, runny nose - you name it, I've got it. Okay, not literally but you get my drift...I think.

Anywho, it's 72 degrees at the moment and on it's way to the mid 80's!  Who gets sick like this on what I'd call the really first awesome day of spring? Me and I feel superfabulously horrific...not to mention the nausea I have when driving. I'm off to recuperate and may be back tomorrow.  For the rest of the world: Have a prosperous day!

[Pictured above is my little man last week when he was sick. Apparently, he decided to take his top off - halfway that is and play.Hey! Are you really sick? Sometime I wonder!]

A Good Movie = HOME (at the moment)

As the saying goes rain, rain, go away come back another day! That's my wish for today and tomorrow...with hopes that the rest of the week will be a full of sun rays.

With that being said, all this rain makes me think of home! Yep! Being in the house and cuddling up with a good book or watching a movie (I'm sure I have more thoughts)! Home is a lot of things to a lot of people depending on the situation.  Last Fall there was a project entitled, "This Is Home." Readers entered and showed what they thought or what home symbolized to them. I thought the project was pretty neat and a lot of the entries were good entries (although a lot of the entries are hard to find now). You an check out some of the entries here and here.

What are your thoughts of home? How does home make you feel?  Send me your thoughts - in one to five words, what is home to you?

Home Inspiration

I've been trying to come up with a design concept for my sons room - something modern yet traditional, a little boyish but not.  Makes no sense huh? I know the politics of decorating...one could go on for days!

I did an online search of kids bedroom design ideas or something of the sort and during my very short search (short attention span), I came across the two rooms pictured below (HI FIVE!).

A bunk room that sleeps four boys w/a vintage bathroom
door that reads "gentlemen" separates the boys'
bedroom from the bathroom area.
Photo: Laurey W. Glenn, from Southern Living

A coastal vacation home.  The children's bunkroom is decorated
with a tropical color palette of sunshine yellow, cobalt, lime and tangerine.
Designer: Phillip Sides

Seeing these two pictures brought back childhood memories of me and my cousins when we were kids. I have no siblings...well I  call my cousins my siblings because we grew up together.  At one point or another we all lived together.  However, I don't think our bedrooms were this great!  Oh how I wish they were (oh the 70's).  I then thought about my cousin and her kids. She has four (4) kids and we always talk about redecorating the kids rooms. More so, I always try to talk her into buying a larger home so that her kids could have a shared bedroom. She hasn't moved (after years of conversations)...so as you can imagine my persuasion isn't going well!

Anyway, my search didn't go very far because I remembered another project I was supposed to be working! However, I really liked both of these design ideas and maybe sharing these images with you will inspire me to work harder on coming up with some design concepts for my son? Maybe I should give myself a deadline? Well just maybe...but not before I finish that last project.

Happy day!

*Note: both images are from the childrens room galleries on myhomeideas.com. Clicking on the photo and designer link under the pictures will take you to the bedrooms shown.

Here's a picture of my backyard looking from my kitchen window. As I take this picture my son is running around the kitchen island screaming with delight. All I can think of is HELP!!!!
